- I bought this Microsoft keyboard, which has a built-in fingerprint button, for my windows PC. It would be a very cool feature if I could use this button for logins to websites in Google Chrome.

- I would like to use an external keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc and have my MacBook closed. The only issue is that I can no longer access the fingerprint scanner. Starting with the iPhone 5S in 2013, Apple embedded its fingerprint sensor into a round button on the front of its devices, taking away real estate from the display. Excel for macbook air.
Follow these steps. Try using Touch ID after each step:

- Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS.
- Make sure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.* For the Home button, use a clean, lint-free cloth to wipe off any dirt or debris.
- Your finger should cover the Home button completely, touching the surrounding metal ring. While Touch ID is scanning, you shouldn't tap too quickly or move your finger around.
- If you're using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn't cover the Home button or the surrounding ring.
- Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on, and that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints.
- Try enrolling a different finger.
Still not working?
If the previous steps didn't help, you see 'Failed—unable to complete Touch ID setup', or either of the following happen when you go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact Apple Support:
- You can't turn on Touch ID
- Touch ID is dimmed or grayed out
If you need to enter your passcode
You might need to enter your passcode or Apple ID instead of using Touch ID in these situations:
- You just restarted your device
- Your fingerprint isn't recognized five times in a row
- You haven't unlocked your device in more than 48 hours
- You just enrolled or deleted fingerprints
- You're trying to open Touch ID & Passcode in the Settings menu
- You used Emergency SOS.
* Moisture, lotions, sweat, oils, cuts, or dry skin might affect fingerprint recognition. Certain activities can also temporarily affect fingerprint recognition, including exercising, showering, swimming, cooking, or other conditions or changes that affect your fingerprint.
Set up Touch ID
Free vocal pitch software. Before you can set up Touch ID in 1Password, you’ll need to set up Touch ID on your Mac. Then follow these steps:
- Open and unlock 1Password.
- Choose 1Password > Preferences from the menu bar, and click Security.
- Select “Allow Touch ID to unlock 1Password”.

Now you can use your fingerprint to unlock 1Password. But don’t forget your Master Password. Sometimes you’ll need to enter it instead of using Touch ID.
Use Touch ID
After setting up Touch ID, open 1Password or use 1Password in your browser.
If 1Password is locked, you’ll see a message that “1Password is trying to unlock.” To unlock 1Password, place your finger on the Touch ID sensor.
If you don’t see the prompt to use Touch ID, click the Touch ID button on the lock screen.

Manage your settings
To change how often your Master Password is required instead of your fingerprint, choose 1Password > Preferences from the menu bar, and click Security.
- Require Master Password: If you want 1Password to require your Master Password instead of Touch ID after a specific amount of time, change this setting.

Get help
Sometimes you’ll need to enter your Master Password instead of using Touch ID:
- If your fingerprint isn’t recognized three times in a row
- If you’re trying to change your Master Password
- If the amount of time in Preferences > Security > Require Master Password has elapsed
If you still need help, follow these steps. Try again after each step:
